2024 Calaveras Chardonnay

Green apple, pear, pineapple, citrus, floral, lively palate

This young and vibrant Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels for 5 months.  Grown at 2,000 ft elevation in Murphys, the vineyard was planted in the mid-70’s and has consistently produced fragrant and balanced wines for 50 years.  The mouthfeel is crisp and flavorful, with good acidity and rich mid-palate.                                                          $16/bottle - $14/refill

 2023 alicante bouschet

Dark plum, graphite, forest floor,  jalapeno pepper, red currant

Alicante Bouschet was developed in 1866 by French viticulturist Emile Bouschet as a blender to improve the color and structure of lesser wines.  During prohibition its thick skin made it a popular grape to ship from California to home winemakers across the country.  Meaty, dark and spicy, with nuances of black olive, herbs and loam, this new release has lively acidity and firm tannins.

$18/bottle - $16/refill

2023 carignan cooper vineyard

Complex, black currant, chocolate, cigar box, spicy

Once one of the most widely planted grapes in California, and valued for its heat-tolerance and high yields, Carignan has lately received renewed interest among premium wine producers and wine aficionados.  Our Cooper Vineyard offering is chock-full of complex aromas like dark chocolate, red cherry, dried herbs, smoke and black pepper.  The palate is smooth and warm, with dried oregano, black currant, red fruit flavors and bright acidity.

$18/bottle - $16/refill

2023 el dorado sagrantino

Ripe cherry, plum, blackberry, mouth filling, rich, firm, long finish

Grown almost exclusively in and around Montefalco, a small town in the Umbria region of central Italy, this rare variety is known for its complex fruit and deep, powerful palate.  It shows layered aromas of black cherry, anise, blueberries and violets.  Thick, full-bodied and firmly structured, it makes a good companion to savory fare like braised short-ribs or grilled rib-eye with morels.  $18/bottle - $16/refill

2023 Sierra Foothills Petite Sirah

Dark red fruit, ripe, complex, layered, toasty oak

One of the most useful blenders in the winemaker’s toolkit, Petite Sirah reliably provides color, ripe fruit and tannic structure to many blended and varietal wines.  This wine shows plenty of all those things, along with brandied-cherries, warm blackberry pie and toasty vanilla.  The palate is big and balanced, with fine mid-palate juiciness to counter the abundant tannins.

angelica

Berries, dried figs, roasted nuts, molasses, and leather.

Made from 140 year-old Mission grapevines from Rinaldi Vineyards in the Fiddletown AVA  of Amador County. Angelica is a style of wine that dates back to the Mission period of  California, the mid 1770's. It is made from vines originally brought from the Canary Islands  as Listan Prieto and later dubbed "Mission" because of its association with the Church.  Unlike most wines, Angelica is made with little or no fermentation; Brandy is added to the  juice or must, bringing the alcohol level up to 18-20%. The young wine is then aged in  barrel, in some cases many years before release. Our Angelica is a blend of numerous  vintages and has an average age of 9 years.
